Small Howl

Chapter One

It was a mugg afternoon. A small fog was infront of me. My long, tangled hair was oulled back into a high ponytail. My hands where deep into my pockets trying to keep warm. I stoped walking and climbed onto a large bolder and looked out over the lake. Hearing a twig snap behind me i turned my head to see what was going on. A small boy about my age. 16. Stood there a large trout inside his hands. "Hey you boy thats our property your steeling." A voice behind me came. The boys face turned red and he ran away with the fish. I looked around and i saw my large, older brother walk over the hill. He grabed my arm tight and draged me back home.

My mother and father where in the kitchen cooking while holding hands. I sighed and got loss of my brothers tight grip and i stromed into my room, slamming the door behind me. I kicked around my pillow then slwoly ploped down on my bed and screamed into the sheets. Tears ran down my face and i looked at my red and almost bleeding wrist. "He grabed me to hard." I sniffed and leaned up.

"Dinner Lara! Dinner." I heared my mothers voice coming from down stairs. I walked slowly down the stairs. My face was red for crying. My mother looked at me a couple times and just set the food down infront of me. "Why did you come home so early?" My mother asked me.

"Cause she ran into the Smith boy today on our property." My brother blurted out before she shuved a peaice of chicken into his fat mouth.

"Is that ture?" My mother asked. She sound very upset and mad at me. I had no idea why.

I just kept my mouth shut with food and i shurged. When i was done eating i slid on my boots and walked on outside. It had rained while i was inside, so the ground was wet and muddy. I started to run toward the small pond that we had. I stoped right infront of it and stared into the water. I dont know why but i thought the water was trying to control me. I leaned closer and closer toward the water. My feet did not move one inch. Then i felt a hand touch my shoulder. I went back to normal. The boy from earlier was behind me.

"You where about to fall in Miss." He said softly at me. His face was red. It looked like he was just beaten. I pushed it away at first then i backed away from the pond.

"Why are you here?" I asked abit meanly.

"Please you must let me stay here at your ranch. I live with my grnadmother and she is very sick. Please i cant move her at all. Please let me stay. Here if you let me stay i will show you somthing you have no idea about." He smiled brightly. He spit on his hand and shoved it toward me. I shurged and spit on my hand and shook with his.

"Tomarow. I will meet you here."

"Alright." He noded and ran away out of my veiw.

The next morning Lara was waiting at the same place the boy told her to. She sighed and looked around for him. She shook her head and slowly started to walk away. "I knew he wouldnt show up." She turned her head when she heard foot steps coming from behind her. The boy with frizzy orange yellow hair came up over the hill. She smiled and walked over to him fastly. "Whats this thing i dont know." She looked confused and unsatisfied. The boy panted and grabed her hand. "This way." He pulled her over to a very large group of trees. "What is it?"

"Shhh." the boy put his finger over his mouth and looked forward. "Over there look." He pointed into the trees toward the small lake.

She looked as hard as she could. Then she saw it. Two large gray and black wolf like things standing there drinking water. "What are they?" She asked softly not taking her eyes off the animal.
